Computer based IMT measurements by 
B-mode ultrasound imaging are best for 
measuring IMT with an accuracy 
of 0.1 mm. IntimaScope 1.0 can achieve 
automatic detection and modification of 
IMT simultaneously. The IMT points are detected 
by a polynomial regression line. 
The most accurate IMT must be measured by 
right angle on the surface wall of the carotid artery. 
 The IntimaScope software gives the most 
accurate measurement to date. We use IMT data 
accumulated in cooperation with 
the Osaka University School of Medicine in Japan.
This software includes a simple database 
which makes it convenient for follow-up 
examinations. 
 We received a patent in Japan for our arterial 
sclerosis diagnosing system using IMT in 1999, 
and one in the US in 2000. (US# 6,132,373). 
We will continue to improve and develop  
this system in the future.
